How To Set Up Your Studio Monitors Correctly

Most people don’t all have the luxury of working in a studio,

or a perfectly built + treated room.

In these instances, there are still a few things we can try and do to improve how we hear our sound.⁣

1️⃣ try to create an equilateral triangle between you and your speakers. The distance from Left Speaker to Right Speaker should also be the same distance from your listening position to each speaker. Your speakers should also be angled...not facing straight out!⁣

2️⃣ If possible, center your desk in the center of the room. ⁣

3️⃣ Try to leave space between the back of your desk / monitors and the wall.⁣

4️⃣ Position your speakers facing the long side of the room.⁣

5️⃣ Monitors should be EAR level...Not above, not below! If you have a two-tier desk this is fine. In this case, it helps to rest them on foam so they aren't touching the desk. You can also use monitor stands to get the speakers at the exact height needed.⁣
